7/11/13 The Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director, Kris Fish Kuhlmann, stopped for a visit at the Central Iowa Fair in Marshalltown, Marshall County, this morning. Here are a few of the photos from her visit.

7/12/13 The Davis County Fair was the next stop on this journey for Kris. Hats off to the Davis County Pork Producers and the super delicious Mr Rib sandwich. She had the pleasure of sharing the meal with Davis County Fair Board member and State Fair Board President Gary McConnell and his wonderful wife Linda. She even got to enjoy the company of Dave Davis, Davis County Sheriff.
It
is the150th year for this fair. Donors have well-preserved this
destination to secure a legacy for many years to come. The midway is
mini-state fair qualifying and the show barn and livestock facilities are first
class. Every person I met was hospitable and wanted to help me find my
way. Very impressive fair! She's glad that she had the opportunity to stop by!
One more stop for this week.... where will it be?

7/12 Kris finished her county fair tour for this week at the Lee County Fair, Iowa's oldest fair. This visit is in a separate blog post. Taking opportunities as they are presented to us is something that keeps our job fun. Friday evening, on her way back home, Kris passed a billboard with an opportunity that she couldn't pass up. It was a billboard for the Wright County Fair that was going on that day. Although this was not a planned trip, and she was on her way to her hometown, she knew that she couldn't miss this opportunity. She decided to stop by, knowing that their was a pie somewhere to be found.
During her stop, she made a visit to the 4-H Building. The 4-H'ers that were watching over the booth at that time were from the Dayton Lake 4-H Club. They did an excellent job of explaining the ribbon system to her- even the pink and rainbow ribbons. After the 4-H building, she took some time to enjoy the live music that they had on that Friday night.
Here are a few photos from her visit. At the Iowa 4-H Foundation, we love looking for barn quilts on our journey to golf outing. Kris thought that this thank you sign at the 4-H Food Stand was just as awesome as the SEVEN kinds of homemade pie!
My favorite pie at Wright County was the Blueberry Rhubarb Ala Mode,....
